Attendance Analyzer — Privacy Policy

1. Information the Extension Accesses

To provide its core functionality, Attendance Analyzer reads attendance-related numbers displayed on supported student portal pages. This can include attendance percentages, conducted classes or hours, attended hours, missed hours, subject names, and other attendance-related values needed for calculations.

The extension may also access information needed to calculate or simulate supported attendance adjustments, such as Yellow Form and Blue Form scenarios, where that information is available on the supported page.

2. Information Stored Locally

Attendance Analyzer uses Chrome's local extension storage (chrome.storage.local) to save user preferences, such as predictor target values, notification preferences, theme selection, and optional offline cached data for up to 5 student profiles.

Local storage is used strictly to provide the extension's attendance tracking, calculation, prediction, and offline cache features. Stored settings remain on your local device unless you clear extension storage or uninstall the extension.

3. How Information Is Used

Information accessed by Attendance Analyzer is used only to:

• Display attendance information and percentages in the extension interface.
• Calculate attendance percentages and required hours to reach target thresholds.
• Provide subject-wise attendance breakdowns and safe-bunk leave calculations.
• Simulate supported Yellow Form and Blue Form claim adjustments.
• Predict possible future attendance outcomes from user-selected scenarios.
• Save extension preferences and provide optional local attendance notifications.

4. Google Analytics 4 (GA4) & Anonymized Operational Telemetry

To monitor extension health, detect breaking portal DOM layout changes, and understand feature engagement, Attendance Analyzer uses Google Analytics 4 (GA4) via the GA4 Measurement Protocol.

Privacy-Preserving Telemetry Architecture:

• Privacy Edge Relay: Telemetry packets are sent through a secure Cloudflare Worker proxy that strips client IP addresses before events reach Google Analytics.
• Anonymized Event Metrics: Only aggregated, pseudorandom operational events are recorded (e.g., extension_opened, attendance_calculated, leave_calculation_used, extension version, and anonymized client identifiers).
• Zero PII or Credentials: Passwords, portal login credentials, student names, individual subject remarks, or private communications are strictly scrubbed and never collected, transmitted, or logged.
• No Tracking Cookies: The extension does not use third-party tracking cookies or cross-site tracking mechanisms.
• User Control: Users can reset or clear all extension analytics identifiers at any time from the extension options page.

5. Data Sharing and Sale

Attendance Analyzer does not sell, rent, monetize, or transfer attendance information, personal information, or user data to third parties, data brokers, or advertising networks.

Core attendance calculations are performed locally within your browser sandbox. No student attendance records are stored on developer servers.

6. Personal, Health, Financial, and Authentication Information

Attendance Analyzer does not collect passwords, PINs, authentication tokens, payment card details, financial statements, or personal communications.

The extension does not require or collect medical records or health histories. Simulating a Blue Form (medical concession) only adjusts attendance math based on user-entered numerical hours and does not store or process health data.

7. Web Pages and Browsing Activity

The extension accesses supported attendance pages only to provide its disclosed attendance analysis and prediction functionality. It does not monitor external websites, record keystrokes, log browsing history, or track unrelated user behavior.

8. Notifications

If enabled by the user, local Chrome notifications may be used to provide attendance threshold alerts. Notifications are generated locally based on configured preferences and can be toggled on or off at any time.

9. Third-Party Services & Donation Gateway

Attendance Analyzer does not use user data for advertising. Voluntary developer support donations are processed securely through Razorpay's PCI-DSS compliant payment portal on an external web page. All developer contributions are voluntary, non-refundable gratuities.

10. Security

The extension minimizes data handling by conducting calculations locally. All local storage uses Chrome's secure sandboxed storage API, and telemetry requests to the Cloudflare proxy use encrypted HTTPS/TLS 1.3 connections.

11. Children's Privacy

Attendance Analyzer is designed as a student productivity tool and does not knowingly collect personal information from children or minors.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated periodically to reflect improvements in features, data handling practices, or regulatory requirements. Any updates will be published on this page with an updated revision date.

13. Independent and Unofficial Tool

Attendance Analyzer is an independent, unofficial project created by students for students. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or officially connected to any university, college, educational institution, or student portal provider.

Attendance calculations and predictions are provided for informational and planning purposes only. Official university portal records and institutional regulations remain authoritative.

14. Chrome Web Store User Data Policy Compliance

Attendance Analyzer strictly complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy and the Limited Use requirements. All data accessed is strictly limited to providing and improving the single disclosed purpose: attendance tracking, calculation, simulation, and forecasting.
